Gosh!
Joker is really a rather awesome chap!
I loved his mix of How You Like Me Now by The Heavy enough to put it on my latest mix... Now he's back with a remix of Simian Mobile Disco's Cruel Intentions with none other than Gossip's Beth Ditto on vocal duty... and I've been hearing some of his other stuff lately and oh my, it doesn't disappoint. Rather than go on about it i'll let you hear for yourself...
Simian Mobile Disco - Cruel Intentions (Joker Remix)
The Heavy - How You Like Me Now (Joker remix)
Joker - Purple City
ps dunno what the image is all about I just put Joker & Friends into google image search & that's what I got..

This isn't BRAND NEW AND EXCITING but it is QUITE OLD AND EXCITING, had iTunes on random the other day while I was working and something called Nokom Electro came on, from an album which I didn't remember where why or how I'd got hold of it. Was a rather awesome electro dub affair so I unrandomed and listened to the rest. This tune caught my attention at the start with a sample which is also on, I think, a Magnifico & Turbolentza tune (or something similarly turbofolkesque which I'm ashamed to love so much). I actually really don't like the sample but anyway the tune is a good'un. Did some googling and discovered more Nokom albums for free download here - I must have come across it on a torrent site then never listened to it. Downloading the rest now.
ANYWAY. The tune is called Riposte and it's an electro-balkan-hip hop affair, ripe for a Busta acapella if you ask me, but then I'll stick a Busta acapella on anything. Snatch the mp3 here!
Generation Bass posted this amazing video a while back:
Soo i went & followed the links & found Die Antwoord's website where you can download loads of their tunes for free! All equally insane! My favourite so far is Doosdronk with it's electro-oompah beat, vocals slipping from Afrikaans (I think! apologies if I'm wrong) into English and back, then rocking out a bit for the chorus... and at about 2.30 what sounds like a crazy liverpudlian... fook yauu!
Grab it here... Die Antwoord - Doosdronk

Exciting times for music, my friends! Tomorrow Diablo Swing Orchestra's new album Sing Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious comes out and it's an absolute blinder... I've had it for a little while cos I'm so achingly cool and I would heartily recommend it, it's one of the most exciting albums I've ever heard. One minute it's neo-swing ala Lee-Press On & the Nails or Royal Crown Revue, one minute it's like Mikelangelo & the Black Sea Gentlemen, the next it descends into Shpongle-esque psychedelic Latin insanity, before heading into crazy Balkan drinking song territory. All with crazy operatic vocals and through a filter of serious, dynamic, early System of a Down- grade METAL!!
