Remember that electro swing dj mix I posted last month? Well the mysterious someone who asked me to do it, I can now reveal, was Pod from Ripsnorter... and on Saturday 11th September we're going to be bringing the undeniable sound of this summer (Yolanda Be Cool at no 1!?!? RivaStarr Scott Mill's record of the week?!?!) to Ripsnorter's terrace for a night of future-vintage debauchery. Myself, Pod and others will be bouncing on the Terrace, with the usual Ripsnorter hard/acid/psy/tech/trance shenanigans in the main room from Jim Hedges, Ed Real, Glowbones, DJ Eldy and Pod.

I'm real excited about this gig, some of my first DJing outings were playing hard trance / hard house back around 2000 at Sheffield free parties, and I was a regular at friends-of-Ripsnorter Planet Zogg, so it feels a little like I've come full-circle here, but brought something a bit Untimely to the mix...

Fresh from the Generation Bass trip to South Africa, UMB has dropped this mix of epic SA deepness. I'm all about the house music at the moment so this mix is hitting the spot for me. Morning is the best time of any party if you ask me, and house is the perfect morning music, generous and spacious... This mix to me sounds like pre-dawn, still retaining some of the deepness and inwardness of night, but without the frenetic rush of midnight, soon the sun will be up and we'll bust out some Smokescreen-esque chunky house...

Me and Globalibre's O.live.R were having a bit of a trans-European love in this afternoon, he was checking out some of my remixes and I was checking out his latest mix:

which is an awesome selection of UK Funky / UK Garage / Houseyness, mostly quite minimal and spacious, with occasional snatches of brass & vocals... like all of his mixes the entire tracklist is now on my want list... definitely improved my afternoon, check it out!!

Am really loving the swing house sound at the moment, and this mix from Peter Bounce is doing good things to me... ranging from fun, bouncy and brassy to spacious and minimal...

loads of ?s in the tracklisting which is just a tragedy, man i want those tunes! The tune from about 7-10 minutes has a cut up sample from Belleruche's version of Minor Swing, and one near the end is that Gramophondzie tune which has been doing the rounds (surely not a ? - methinks Peter may be being a little secretive), any advances on these??

Rockin (as always) new mix from the R8 crew full of their unique Sheffield wobble... Some 4x4/funky/dubstep/kuduro action with authentic Yorkshire vocals from Walker & Dubzee, packed with exclusive dubs from R8 as well as big tunes from Buraka, Caspa & Rusko & more... (update...) I wrote this before getting to track 18 (which is freakin awesome, incidentally, insanely organ-wobble-tastic) which spins back into TKR's Polar, and the mix then continues off into blissful, chilled out dub/step territory, unexpected but amazing... check it out!!

I love my psy trance me... it gets frowned upon in various circles for being totally ghey but there's nothing like a daytime psy-stomp with the sun beating down, looking around and seeing the 'oooooooooh' on everyone's faces everyone seeming in slow motion knowing you're all feeling exactly the same thing...

Anyway Aulday sent this old mix out the other day of 'Afternoon, Funky & Joyful Daytime Psytrance For Anybody' and boy it's lovely, I can feel the sunshine just listening to it on these crappy little pink in ear headphones...
