BROKEN DUB: Incredibly appropriate name for this free EP of glitched out dubtronics released by Modisti netlabel. The tunes are pleasingly short, in fact the whole seven tracks are over within 15 minutes, which is a good thing sometimes: if you've done all you're going to do within two minutes, why drag the track out to seven?
Taking in dub/step, glitch, breakcore and general electronic experimentation along the way, most of the EP is an enjoyable listen but to be perfectly honest, pretty forgettable. It's opening track Disappoinment and closer, Vector Dub, which really make this a release worth checking out - the former being more or less exactly half way between dubstep and Aphex Twin's Richard D James album, and the latter another dubstep based tune which makes incredible use of the way silence can smack you round the face in a beat (see Dr Dre's Some LA Niggaz beat for one of the best examples of this I know)

I just uploaded a free album of some of my stuff from waaaay back, well, circa 2002 this is - back when I was Girl Robot (well I still am, sometimes, in theory) and rocked out the lofi-8bit-dub-techno with my Amiga and a couple of bits of supercheap hardware, ah those were the days... Here's a couple to stream:
The whole album is only in 128 unfortunatley, you have to understand that when I started getting involved with music online, we really didn't have that much storage space either online or off - anything more than 128 was just overindulgence... I've only got over this in the past couple of years really, meaning that loads of music of which I literally have the only copy in the world is in relatively low quality... OOPS. If anyone does want any of these to play out, I have a feeling I still have WAVs of one or two - definitely not all - on a hard drive somewhere, hit me up & I'll try to find them!
Anyway check out the album here...

Enjoy!

Here's a few tunes from a project of mine from a few years ago...
Celtic music seems to have largely remained off the Global Bass radar - as other traditional sounds have got swept up and incorporated into the canon of cool, there remains something distinctly uncool about Celtic music. Maybe it's the Riverdance connection? Or maybe it's just that it's too damn white?
I don't know but I love it. These tunes are a selection from a bunch that were recorded by myself and my incredibly talented friend Sean Kilbride when I was living up in the Highlands a few years back.
No downloads at the moment - DJs hit me up if you want 320s :) The stems are all on a hard drive somewhere in my mum's attic (I think!) so next time I'm over there I'll dig them out then post em up for remixy fun times.

Just randomly come across these guys on soundcloud: Dungeons and Dj's... here's a few tunes I'm mostly loving:
Chopped up broken brass:
good morning ! by Dungeons and Dj's
Atmospheric swingin dub steppa (with a space between dub and step :)
harlem swing anthem by Dungeons and Dj's
Groovy frenetic swing hopper:

Came across this awesome free album today from Sheffield's Planet Terror Records - it's a wicked selection of mostly dubstep based electronic awesomeness with some IDM and breakcore stuff in there too... Basically every track is a winner but some highlights for me were: Adam Kroll's Emigrant, a fantastic aggresive, spacious dubstep track with trancey arps and brassy stabs... the bouncy psy dubstep of Cixxx J's edit of Solstice by dubbwune... Rogue State doing his inimatable 4x4 dubstep thang on Fireworkz... 2 tone chiptune-core of New Ferves by Smurd and the huge lolloping psy-dub monster Zion Blood by Titus Twelve.
