Came across this awesome free album today from Sheffield's Planet Terror Records - it's a wicked selection of mostly dubstep based electronic awesomeness with some IDM and breakcore stuff in there too... Basically every track is a winner but some highlights for me were: Adam Kroll's Emigrant, a fantastic aggresive, spacious dubstep track with trancey arps and brassy stabs... the bouncy psy dubstep of Cixxx J's edit of Solstice by dubbwune... Rogue State doing his inimatable 4x4 dubstep thang on Fireworkz... 2 tone chiptune-core of New Ferves by Smurd and the huge lolloping psy-dub monster Zion Blood by Titus Twelve.

Here's a lil mix from me for the sunshine, or the rain, depending on the weather. An Untimely tangent through music space with a wonkily soulful vein running through it... hip hop beats, 2 step shuffle, epic house deepness & dubstep pressure! Some old tunes, some new tunes, some tunes of indeterminate age.

Secret Archives of the Vatican have released a new free EP, featuring a remix from myself! The EP contains five tracks of Secret Archives' unique mystical global dubsteppy sound, plus my remix which is a stuttery, frenetic, percussive shuffle.

I realised today I'm getting loads of hits from people looking for 4x4s on my post about R8 Records' new 4x4 dubstep funky mix, due to being on page 1 on google if you search for new 4x4... quite funny I think.
In the hope that people who like 4x4s also like heavy bass, and also I guess as an experiment in irrelevant SEO, I thought I'd post this tune that R8's Rogue State has just put up for free download, it's a phat phat dubstep reworking of Gappy Ranks tune 'Stinkin Rich'

Via Attorney St, here's an awesome cumbia-carnival-glitch-dubstep monster:

Rockin (as always) new mix from the R8 crew full of their unique Sheffield wobble... Some 4x4/funky/dubstep/kuduro action with authentic Yorkshire vocals from Walker & Dubzee, packed with exclusive dubs from R8 as well as big tunes from Buraka, Caspa & Rusko & more... (update...) I wrote this before getting to track 18 (which is freakin awesome, incidentally, insanely organ-wobble-tastic) which spins back into TKR's Polar, and the mix then continues off into blissful, chilled out dub/step territory, unexpected but amazing... check it out!!
Download it here, and check out Deadman's blog for more R8 action.

Coopz Mucksion has released his new album for free: Coopz Muckison - Lion Tactics (4shared)
It consists mostly of heavy heavy dubstep pressure, but for me where he's really shining is the more straight up dub tunes... check this monstrosity* out:

This dude Matthew Hiscock got in touch yesterday to play me some of the stuff he's been doing, and man, he's been doing some good stuff! Chilled electro-step-breaks-lushness, according to Matthew 'It’s a bit of LuckyMe and a bit of Joy Orbison' but since I've not listened to those guys I can't comment on that... The whole sound is simultaneously warm and cold, bright sunshine on snowly mountains, or something like that.. reminds me of early 808 State for that reason (808 State's Gorgeous album - one of the best albums evar - has permanently burned mountains onto my inner retinas after it was the only tape I had with me on a skiing trip).
Here's Matthew's new EP for streaming, and he's been kind enough to send a download link for you as well, see below... I'm particularly loving Big Big Big.

Bass Music Blog has been running a little feature for a while, telling the story of putting together a free album... It's been making interesting reading, especially alongside the KLF's The Manual - How To Have A Number One The Easy Way which I read last night, for anyone thinking about ways to get ahead - and where, exactly, 'ahead' is - in the music 'industry'.

My boy from Sheffield Rogue State has just dropped a new free EP - 4 tunes in his inimitable 4-4-dubstep-niche style.
According to his bio: Having spent more than 10 years honing his production skills through various genres, the last few years have been spent working on the label, R8 Records which he co-owns and manages with Alex Deadman. Studio time is dedicated to a unique fusion of dubstep, Uk Funky, Niche and Jungle.
I can vouch for those ten years, in fact its at least 12 as we did one of our first gigs together back when he was called Optimus at the Boardwalk in Sheffield...
