I was totally stoked today to get this in my inbox today from Jutasi of Goulasch Exotica:
Forty Thieves Orkestar - Belboeli (andykisaragi remix - Goulasch Exotica vocal mashup)
...combining my Forty Thieves Orkestar remix with some soulful vocals (warren clarke feat. kathy brown - over you & michelle weeks - the light) to great effect, especially in the breakdown. I've always been a bit of a mashup artist and it's a massive honour that someone wants to take something I've done and progress it like this. I think it's definitely an improvement on the original - decide for yourself:

So after that I was checking out some of Goulasch Exotica's other stuff and man some of it is pretty hottttt... check it out after the jump:

Been noticing quite a few searches coming in for my tune Amyl Balkan since I posted my Electro Swing Mix a few weeks ago, so I thought it was time to unleash it... eeer it is, a fairly silly but fun balkan house tune with vocals from DJ Supreme's Tha Wildstyle which is one of my favourite Amyl House type tunes from back in the day, and fiddle from Mad Manoush's Start It Up.

It's been a while, but here's a new mixtape from me!
I got asked to do an electro-swing mix which was just swinging enough to bounce, but just electro enough not to scare off techno/trance kids... so here it is. Probably the most consistent mix in terms of genre and bpm I've recorded in years..!

Just come across this mix on the Hijack Bristol forum by someone called JE3Z-LUNCHBOX... It's a wicked selection of swinging balkan electronic craziness, loads of tunes I can't identify, good work sir... if you find your way here, any chance of a tracklisting??
Here's what he had to say about it:
Its good to see that more people are getting into the whole electro swing, gypsy beats scene.
Thought id make my contribution with a seriously phaaaaat mix of said awesomeness.
LUNCHBOX PRESENTS! THE BIG BOX OF SWING MIXTAPE!
GYPSY BEATS, JAZZY TREATS, DUBBY BASS, STEPPY WOBBLES AND TIMELESS CHIPTUNE INFLUENCES MAKE THIS MIX A MIND NUMBING FEET STOMPING CARAVAN CRASHING TREAT.GET IT WHILE ITS HOT!

Just been randomly downloading free songs from last.fm and found these guys from Berlin: Budzillus. They're described as "trash gypsy swing core or street polk'n'roll" and I'm not going to do any better than that, but what really caught my attention were the crazy gypsy swing chiptunes they've got going on... regular readers should hopefully be aware that i'm of the opinion that the absolute height of human musical achievement has for the most part been in the form of computer game music and demo music so anything with a bit of a bleep turns my head instantly, especially if it's got a gypsy-cabaret-polka-twist...
so check these out:
Budzillus - It's up to You - pure genius, bouncy cabaresque game music
Budzillus - Minor Bit - Minor Swing in a glitchy chiptune setting

Been quiet on here from me in the last couple of weeks, all sorts of Real Life things occuring, but here's something awesome to make up for it... I covered Opa Novy God's awesome free album Original Goods a little while back, well here's the first of a couple of remixes I'm doing for them, on a carnivalesque balkan house tip with a little dancehall shuffle thrown in too...

Shazalakazoo - Live in Amsterdam (2010) by shazalakazoo
This speaks for itself really, 2 solid hours of Balkan Folkstep Bangers from carnivalesque balkan soca-dancehall-house to hardcore balkan junglistic fever... all in Shazalakazoos inimitable style... for free!

Opa Novy God have released a free album of totally rockin hyper skankin russian-balkan-klezmer-ska-punkery. According to their last.fm bio:
Following the traditions of festive brass bands, Oppa Novy God will make you happy with the cheerful songs and passionate dancing rhythms. Filled with unrestrained joy, band's music creates exceptionally festive atmosphere and promises authentic amusement and cheerful mood!
Can't argue with that! Check out this tune, the opener of their latest album, and I'm sure you'll agree:
The whole album, Original Goods, is free to download here:

So there's probably going to be a whole other dude posting on the blog soon - robbiefelixawesome (or maybe he wants a new name now), the original Untimely collaborator, the one guy who can regularly out-awesome me in terms of new / unexpected / crazy / and, well, untimely sounds... Which I'm excited about, as I think I get a bit too sucked into the whole Ghettotech (whatever that is) thing, which should only be a part of the whole Untimely thing (whatever that is).
Here's our original Untimely mix, back when the full Untimely Skank Sound System name was still in use... no fancy DJ tricks - in fact very little actual mixing at all per se - but this is one of my favourite mixes I've ever recorded. Tune after tune!
Untimely Skank Sound System - Summer 07 Mix
Tracklisting after the jump...

I've been thinking for a while that I need some good new balkan stuff to post, since I've been fairly light on it lately and it's kind of one of the main original forces behind Untimely Sound (although the Untimely remit is basically World Music, meaning Music from the World rather than any kind of colonialist interpretation.. ) and lo and behold this morning Brian May aka DJ Delay - no, that's not that Brian May (at least I don't think it is!) - sent me a link to check out his new album - 'a remix album like no other that plumbs the depths and traditions of Eastern European music styles' all with a fairly healthy slab of dub, house and breaks.
