wrought iron rhymes... Copius!

I've been meaning to blog about my boy COPIUS for a while.

Check out this video of him & his band live last weekend:

Copius is a Sheffield based producer & MC who's been making music for a few years now, and man he's coming on in leaps and bounds, the band looks awesome can't wait to see them live in the flesh! This tune gets the live hip hop thing just right, sticking to a tight repetetive groove - not getting too carried away with the instrumentation but still making the most of it.

Check out some more Copius tunes below...

This is one of my favourite Copius productions: Marvelous - It's My Time the beat is simple & relentless with a real 80s cop drama feel to it and Marv's vocal sits on it perfectly. Takes him a few bars of the vocal for it to all really fit together but when it does it's just awesome with some wicked rhymes... my chick's so fit she could cycle to France!

Love the beat on this one Mikee Liks & Copius - So Relentless. Dunno what else to say about this one except it's great.

You might have heard a snippet of this next one on my last mix - but grab the whole track here, since I managed to leave out Soul entirely! The beat on this one started out as the tune Budayeen 3AM from Secret Archives of the Vatican's album Babylon Halt, then got a remix from myself, and a little bit of mashup treatment with a Roots Manuva vocal - check that out here - then Copius & Soul got it and this is what happened...
Copius & Soul - High Times
I love the idea that everything creative is a recombination of what has gone before and is in turn more raw material for others to work with, and this is an example of that in action... awesome

so yeah. COPIUS!
