Me and Globalibre's O.live.R were having a bit of a trans-European love in this afternoon, he was checking out some of my remixes and I was checking out his latest mix:

which is an awesome selection of UK Funky / UK Garage / Houseyness, mostly quite minimal and spacious, with occasional snatches of brass & vocals... like all of his mixes the entire tracklist is now on my want list... definitely improved my afternoon, check it out!!

Bass Music Blog has been running a little feature for a while, telling the story of putting together a free album... It's been making interesting reading, especially alongside the KLF's The Manual - How To Have A Number One The Easy Way which I read last night, for anyone thinking about ways to get ahead - and where, exactly, 'ahead' is - in the music 'industry'.

Free I.D. & Baobinga album - Bass Music Sessions OUT NOW

My friend Kasey from Brazilian Beats and all sorts of other Bristol-based places where you can hear grooovy global beats asked me to record a demo mix for his World Beatz night, but "go easy on the Balkan"... which was a bit of a No Stairway! Denied! moment, but actually had loads of fun doing this little mix, dunno if it fits in with what you want Kasey but here it is for y'all to check out...

So like I said yesterday, was an awesome Fancy Pants themed night at the Boneyard on Saturday, I recorded my set and for once actually remembered to save it, so here it is....

Here's a lil work in progress from me, a remix of my personal favourite Glitzy BagHags tune Steve D Weave... trying to do it in a bit of a UK Funky style, but I'm still not 100% sure what that is, so it is what it is I guess.

Tom, tromboner (snigger) from those kings & queens of the acoustic mashup the Glitzy BagHags was round at the weekend and at one point the question "what is UK Funky?" came up... Now I am a proper genre geek, I can usually tell you exactly what defines a particular genre and exactly why a tune is or isn't an example of it - despite, or because of the fact that they're totally arbitrary. But so far I've found UK Funky hard to pin down - the best I could come up with was "like that Head Shoulders Knees & Toes tune but not necessarily shit."

Well in timely fashion DJ O.live.R of Globalibre has dropped this UK Funky mix showcasing the good stuff... minimal, percussive, tribal, sometimes dark even... O.live.R's Swing House mix from a while back really opened my ears to some new music so I was excited to hear this mix and it didn't dissapoint.
