Cripes: 2 mixes from me in 2 weeks, that's got to be a record. This time around it's global bass with the focus shifted away from the organic and traditional to the futuristic and digital. Well mostly. A Moombah-Afro-Kwaito-Funky-Grimey-Kudurave adventure.

New from Subdrive, this filthy global rave EP from Curl Up:
curl up - Biomechanical EP by subdrive
Opening the EP on a kuduro beat with hardcore stabs - my ears are officially pricked up - in fact it initially kind of sounds like a tropical Hoover Time*. The tune progresses into more typical old skool hardcore before bringing the 4-4 back. Sick Sad World opens on a fairly innocent UK Funky type beat but those violent cut up vocal stabs let you know something darker may be lurking and sure enough when it kicks in it's a slap in the face with a grimey brick. Recommended.
* - Stimulant DJs - Hoover Time - classic hard house, this was a big tune for me in a past life

Out now on the untimely sound bandcamp:
Untimely Sound presents andykisaragi - Amyl Balkan EP
A 5 track EP collecting some of my biggest Balkan tunes from the last year & some unreleased gems too. Combining elements of Balkan, Klezmer, House, UK Funky, UK Folky and Techno. 5 slabs of Balkan fyah for global bass lovers!
The EP is released on a pay-what-you-want basis, so if you want to pay nothing, that's totally cool with me, however if you want to give a little in exchange then that's just awesome! People who do choose to pay will go on my extra-special-super-best-pals mailing list for exlusive freebies in future! (Oh and by the way, because Bandcamp uses Paypal, if you pay less than about 50p then I won't get any of it! Sucks I know, so if you're thinking yeah it's good, but only worth about 40p to me, then you're best off just going for the free option otherwise your cash just goes to lining Paypal's already extremely well-lined pockets!)

New one from me, a lil remix of Diaspora (whose album A Jamaican in Cairo I blogged a couple of weeks ago) turning it into a UKFunky-Kuduro-Dub banger!
Streaming only for now....

Quick reminder that your Saturday night could be totally awesome if, and only if, you head down to Ripsnorter's Autumn Antics in Bristol.

Roll up Rippers for a jamboree of jive-tastic hip-jigglin' on The Terrace, bass-boomin' wonky glitch-bombs in The Cave & a supercharged barrel-blowin' beat-fest in The Tunnel.

To whet your appetite, first off you could do worse than check out my Electro Swing DJ Mix for Ripsnorter... then after that, there's a few tunes that have caught my attention lately after the jump...:

Me and Globalibre's O.live.R were having a bit of a trans-European love in this afternoon, he was checking out some of my remixes and I was checking out his latest mix:
DJ O.live.R - "All U Want To Know About Bass"-Tape by o.live.r
which is an awesome selection of UK Funky / UK Garage / Houseyness, mostly quite minimal and spacious, with occasional snatches of brass & vocals... like all of his mixes the entire tracklist is now on my want list... definitely improved my afternoon, check it out!!

Bass Music Blog has been running a little feature for a while, telling the story of putting together a free album... It's been making interesting reading, especially alongside the KLF's The Manual - How To Have A Number One The Easy Way which I read last night, for anyone thinking about ways to get ahead - and where, exactly, 'ahead' is - in the music 'industry'.
Here's the diary:

And here's the album, which was released on Monday. Did I mention it's free? 10 tracks of UK-break-step-funky fyah...

My friend Kasey from Brazilian Beats and all sorts of other Bristol-based places where you can hear grooovy global beats asked me to record a demo mix for his World Beatz night, but "go easy on the Balkan"... which was a bit of a No Stairway! Denied! moment, but actually had loads of fun doing this little mix, dunno if it fits in with what you want Kasey but here it is for y'all to check out...

So like I said yesterday, was an awesome Fancy Pants themed night at the Boneyard on Saturday, I recorded my set and for once actually remembered to save it, so here it is....

Tracklist after the jump....

Here's a lil work in progress from me, a remix of my personal favourite Glitzy BagHags tune Steve D Weave... trying to do it in a bit of a UK Funky style, but I'm still not 100% sure what that is, so it is what it is I guess.
