Analogik - A great mix by Jenkamusic
Like Budzillus (who appear here as remixers), they're amazing at combining a cutesy videogame / chiptune sound with organic balkan, gypsy, and sometimes country melodies and instruments (I'd like to name this genre right now: Gyptune).
The combination of lo-fi synth bleeps, traditional melodies and dubby basslines in Saltefanden & Don Texas reach that musical holy-grail: Monkey-Island-ness, especially Saltefanden which is so damn LeChuck I can hardly stand it. Amazing stuff. Cowboy Song is a wicked Western Ska skank with a big sinister breakdown, and Ali is a papery, vintage balkan dub.
The remix pack is strong too, with dEbruit teasing even more bleeps out of Saltefanden to create a wonky hip hop instrumental, and Budzillus adding a bit more bounce to Ali. Check the Dokkedal/Dixen remix of Ali for some heavy 4-4 dub/step pressure - this is probably my favourite of the remixes on offer. El Remolon serves up a slow dutch house / fast moombahton reworking of Don Texas, whilst Bo Marley's remix of the same tune is a sparse electro dub with the brass melody transposed onto 8bit beeps.
There's some limited free downloads of the dEbruit remix at Generation Bass, hurry on over & grab it.

Opa Novy God have released a free album of totally rockin hyper skankin russian-balkan-klezmer-ska-punkery. According to their last.fm bio:
Following the traditions of festive brass bands, Oppa Novy God will make you happy with the cheerful songs and passionate dancing rhythms. Filled with unrestrained joy, band's music creates exceptionally festive atmosphere and promises authentic amusement and cheerful mood!
Can't argue with that! Check out this tune, the opener of their latest album, and I'm sure you'll agree:
The whole album, Original Goods, is free to download here:

So there's probably going to be a whole other dude posting on the blog soon - robbiefelixawesome (or maybe he wants a new name now), the original Untimely collaborator, the one guy who can regularly out-awesome me in terms of new / unexpected / crazy / and, well, untimely sounds... Which I'm excited about, as I think I get a bit too sucked into the whole Ghettotech (whatever that is) thing, which should only be a part of the whole Untimely thing (whatever that is).
Here's our original Untimely mix, back when the full Untimely Skank Sound System name was still in use... no fancy DJ tricks - in fact very little actual mixing at all per se - but this is one of my favourite mixes I've ever recorded. Tune after tune!
