Randy Andy hits Shambala Festival this Friday!

OK so my blogging has been pretty light of late (always linking awesome music on twitter though): I've been back and forward to Holland, goimng throught the process of buying a dutch barge & bringing her back here, which is a fairly epic & time consuming thing to do! Got her back in the country now, just about half a year's worth of work to do & then I'll have a home, wooohoo!

Anyway. Just a quick heads up for anyone going to Shambala: come check me out (well, my Shambala based alter ego Randy Andy) in the Social Club on Friday night, about midnightish till about twoish, for some electro swingin balkan housing sleazy dancehalling global bouncin fun times...

Here's some mixes to get y'all in the mood:

September 17/18: Untimely Sound at GENERATION BASS, Tilburg, Holland!!!

Generation Bass 17-18 Sept, Tilburg, Holland

Yeeeeah! Can't wait for this! Generation Bass' Main Event 2010 is happening in Tilburg, NL on 17th & 18th September and I'll be there playing alongside global bass luminaries like Daniel Haaksman, Celt Islam, Bandish Projekt, Globalibre and of course the main man himself DJ UMB! It's such an honour to be on the same bill as all these guys... (even if they did spell my name wrong!!) what a line up!

Untimely Sound brings Electro Swing to Ripsnorter, Bristol!

Ripsnorter Bristol

Remember that electro swing dj mix I posted last month? Well the mysterious someone who asked me to do it, I can now reveal, was Pod from Ripsnorter... and on Saturday 11th September we're going to be bringing the undeniable sound of this summer (Yolanda Be Cool at no 1!?!? RivaStarr Scott Mill's record of the week?!?!) to Ripsnorter's terrace for a night of future-vintage debauchery. Myself, Pod and others will be bouncing on the Terrace, with the usual Ripsnorter hard/acid/psy/tech/trance shenanigans in the main room from Jim Hedges, Ed Real, Glowbones, DJ Eldy and Pod.

I'm real excited about this gig, some of my first DJing outings were playing hard trance / hard house back around 2000 at Sheffield free parties, and I was a regular at friends-of-Ripsnorter Planet Zogg, so it feels a little like I've come full-circle here, but brought something a bit Untimely to the mix...

Check the event on facebook: Ripsnorter Autumn Antics!

as a reminder of what you're in for... here's that electro-swingin mixtape again:

BALKAN BREAKZZZZ! featuring Goulasch Exotica, Forty Thieves Orkestar and andykisaragi...

goulash

I was totally stoked today to get this in my inbox today from Jutasi of Goulasch Exotica:

Forty Thieves Orkestar - Belboeli (andykisaragi remix - Goulasch Exotica vocal mashup)

...combining my Forty Thieves Orkestar remix with some soulful vocals (warren clarke feat. kathy brown - over you & michelle weeks - the light) to great effect, especially in the breakdown. I've always been a bit of a mashup artist and it's a massive honour that someone wants to take something I've done and progress it like this. I think it's definitely an improvement on the original - decide for yourself:

So after that I was checking out some of Goulasch Exotica's other stuff and man some of it is pretty hottttt... check it out after the jump:

andykisaragi - Amyl Balkan

Been noticing quite a few searches coming in for my tune Amyl Balkan since I posted my Electro Swing Mix a few weeks ago, so I thought it was time to unleash it... eeer it is, a fairly silly but fun balkan house tune with vocals from DJ Supreme's Tha Wildstyle which is one of my favourite Amyl House type tunes from back in the day, and fiddle from Mad Manoush's Start It Up.

Terra Firma: free dubstep from Planet Terror!

Came across this awesome free album today from Sheffield's Planet Terror Records - it's a wicked selection of mostly dubstep based electronic awesomeness with some IDM and breakcore stuff in there too... Basically every track is a winner but some highlights for me were: Adam Kroll's Emigrant, a fantastic aggresive, spacious dubstep track with trancey arps and brassy stabs... the bouncy psy dubstep of Cixxx J's edit of Solstice by dubbwune... Rogue State doing his inimatable 4x4 dubstep thang on Fireworkz... 2 tone chiptune-core of New Ferves by Smurd and the huge lolloping psy-dub monster Zion Blood by Titus Twelve.

Untimely Sound presents... WonkySoul!!

Here's a lil mix from me for the sunshine, or the rain, depending on the weather. An Untimely tangent through music space with a wonkily soulful vein running through it... hip hop beats, 2 step shuffle, epic house deepness & dubstep pressure! Some old tunes, some new tunes, some tunes of indeterminate age.

Romanthony: Rain Garage!

It's a bit miserable outside today. I quite like it.

There's something about old US garage which fits perfectly with rain for me ever since a community festival in Endcliffe Park in Sheffield which got totally washed out, and everyone gave up and went home except for a soundsystem and a few committed ravers (at the age of 14 or so I was the most committed raver of all at these free festivals since I didn't know about free parties and I couldn't get in to any clubs) dancing to chunky Armand Van Helden-esque beats...

So it was well timed that I picked up DJ Romanthony - Live in the Mix from a charity shop yesterday and I was bumping it in the car on the way to work this morning... I love Romanthony's production style, but I'm finding it hard to express exactly why... there's something kind of thin sounding about it - but that's not really a word normally used positively when describing dance music. It's the way it seems to just lightly brush over you from a distance, like an overheard snatch of a party in the next room, or next street, or maybe the next universe, which gives it a sense of urgency, but also a sort of relaxed generosity. You gotta dance, but no need to go crazy if you don't want to. Teeny dancing will do.

One tune in particular really got me, a repetetive, hypnotic, addictive groove that made me want to get out the car and get lost in the music & the mist... here's a cheekly lil 128 for ya:

SWING HARD! New Untimely Sound balkan-electro-swing-house mixtape!!

It's been a while, but here's a new mixtape from me!
I got asked to do an electro-swing mix which was just swinging enough to bounce, but just electro enough not to scare off techno/trance kids... so here it is. Probably the most consistent mix in terms of genre and bpm I've recorded in years..!
